Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of KamiSnap, an iPhone app that uses artificial intelligence to help you understand Japanese documents. By installing or using KamiSnap, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. The Service

KamiSnap analyzes images of Japanese documents and produces plain-English explanations, urgency indicators, and extracted details such as amounts and deadlines. Explanations are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or otherwise unsuitable for your situation. KamiSnap is a productivity aid — it is not a substitute for legal, tax, immigration, medical, or financial advice. Always verify important information with the issuing authority or a qualified professional, especially for immigration, tax, and pension matters.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree that you will:

• Only scan documents you have the right to scan and explain;
• Not submit illegal content, content infringing third-party rights, or content containing other people's personal data without their permission;
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, abuse, or interfere with the service or its underlying providers;
• Not use the service to harm or defraud anyone.

You are responsible for the documents and content you submit.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

KamiSnap may offer paid subscriptions. Purchases are billed through your Apple ID, and subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's policies.

4. Intellectual Property

KamiSnap, including the app, its brand, and its underlying technology, is owned by us and protected by applicable law. You retain all rights in the documents you submit. The explanations generated by the app are provided to you under a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for your own use.

5. Disclaimers

KamiSnap is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that explanations will be correct.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to KamiSnap is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including missed deadlines, penalties, or other consequences arising from reliance on an explanation.

7. Termination

You can stop using KamiSnap at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate access for users who violate these Terms or misuse the service.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions, and apply to the extent permitted by mandatory local consumer protection laws.

10. EULA and Apple App Store Compliance

These Terms incorporate and comply with Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). By downloading KamiSnap from the Apple App Store, you also agree to that EULA. The key points below summarize how that EULA applies to your use of KamiSnap:

• License scope. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use KamiSnap on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
• No transfer or sublicensing. You may not distribute, sublicense, rent, lease, lend, sell, or otherwise redistribute KamiSnap to any third party.
• No reverse engineering. You may not copy, decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, attempt to derive the source code of, modify, or create derivative works of KamiSnap, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
• Apple is not the provider. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to KamiSnap. We — not Apple — are solely responsible for the app and its content.
• Warranty. In the event of any failure of KamiSnap to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to KamiSnap.
• Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to KamiSnap, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, and consumer protection claims.
• Intellectual property claims.In the event of a third-party claim that KamiSnap or your use of it infringes that party's intellectual property rights, we — not Apple — will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such claim.
• Legal compliance.You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Third-party beneficiary.You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

If there is any conflict between these Terms and Apple's standard EULA, the terms more protective of the end user shall apply with respect to your use of KamiSnap on Apple devices.
